AmacKeylogger combines the keylogging and monitoring features to give the users a full overview of the activity on the monitored Mac computer. It records everything from the hidden passwords to the text typed in emails and chat messengers. It is particularly handy for monitoring your home Mac and since it is quite easy to use, it is suitable both for techies and for people who struggle with the complex modern technologies.

AmacKeylogger is a handy spy application for Mac and it allows you to monitor the activities on the desired computer without being detected. All in all, it is a decent keylogging software particularly useful for keeping an eye on your children and the time they spend online. However, it comes at a pretty steep price which can be off-putting to some potential users.

So the big question is: Is AmacKeylogger worth the price? It depends on your needs and requirements. This spying software comes with a good selection of monitoring features that perform exactly as described by the manufacturer. What this means is that AmacKeylogger will successfully record all keystrokes including passwords, emails, and chats.

However, it records only typewriter keys and there is no mouse click logging, no clipboard interception, no interception of the used apps, and no logging of the incoming chat messages. In fact, both sides of the conversation seem to be monitored in Skype only; no other instant messengers. Basically, there is zero file activity monitoring and while the Screenshot feature does help with some of that, you can’t exactly count on knowing of absolutely everything that happens on the monitored device at all times.

As for online monitoring, AmacKeylogger does successfully intercept visited URLs, but it logs neither sent nor received emails. You can, however, configure the app to capture a screenshot every time a particular website is opened which can be helpful for monitoring emails, but there are other keylogging programs that will do this much more successfully.

On the more positive note, one of the biggest plusses is that you can access all the logs and records remotely and have them delivered to your email. This means that the physical access to the monitored computer is necessary only during the installation and setup. Once installed, AmacKeylogger will start in Stealth Mode and it will stay that way until someone switches it to Visible Mode by hitting a specific hotkey combination.

Keep in mind though that despite the claims from the developers that AmacKeylogger can be installed without knowing the administrator password – it cannot. If you want to install this software, you will indeed have to know the password.

As for the interface, it is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. All collected information is grouped into categories which makes it much simpler and faster to find what you are looking for. You can see the list of categories directly in Log Viewer while the rest of the window shows the intercepted information including timestamps, names of the apps that were used when the information was recorded, and more.

You should also know that AmacKeylogger Standard Edition is supported by all Mac OS X operating systems from 10.5 Leopard to 10.8 Mountain Lion. Unfortunately, unlike some keyloggers, this keylogging software cannot be configured to uninstall itself automatically at some point so if you decide to stop using it, you will have to uninstall the program manually.
